Hi, I'm Manuja Jayasuriya a mobile personal trainer with Fitness Inside Out in the South Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne.

I developed an interest in fitness during middle school. My passion for movement started with kickboxing in high school, then transitioned to bodybuilding and calisthenics. This led me to pursue a Bachelor in Exercise and Sports Science at Deakin University. As a strength and conditioning coach, I've worked with a diverse population, from regular individuals to athletes, inspiring me to help others achieve their goals.

I believe striving for a healthy, strong, and athletic body is highly rewarding, enhancing both physical and mental wellbeing. I enjoy helping clients reach their fitness milestones, whether it's gaining muscle, enhancing performance, or improving overall health.

My favourite exercise 

Bulgarian Split Squat: It is a great exercise because it requires little equipment (a step and 2 dumbbells if needed). The exercise is very fatiguing; however, it allows for more range of motion than the standard lunges and reduces the rear leg involvement because it is elevated. It is my favorite because it can be done almost anywhere.

My favourite piece of equipment

Pull up bar: The back is often difficult to train effectively without equipment. If there is one piece of equipment that I would pick, it would be a pull up bar (portable pull up bars that you can attach to the doorframes are good). It helps with training almost all of your back region as well as the arms by adjusting how you grip the bar and the changing way in which you perform the exercise.

My number one health or fitness tip

Consistency: It takes weeks, if not months of consistent work to see big results. Have big goals and a plan to get there, but focus on the small wins and the direction you are going.
